1968 Norton Rickman Metisse for sale in Chicago, Illinois

$4,300

When in a lifetime chance to buy a piece of British bike history. For Sale I have a 1968 Rickman Metisse Road Racer with certification of authenticity provided by MRD Rickman. The motorbike is an authentic Rickman MK111 oil bearing Road Race frame, not to be puzzled with lower specification frames made for basic street use. Made in 1968 by Rickman Bros, during the duration of bros Derek and Dons ownership of the company. In 1982 the bike went through a total restore with the intention of returning it to the track for the upcoming period. Like lots of things the rebuild took longer than was initially prepared and consequently the motorcycle was ultimately outdated by the time it was completed and as such never raced in its existing form.It has a Norton Commando 750cc motor with matching numbers to frame that was constructed and fitted to the frame by Norman White at his Thruxton store in England. The motor utilizes twin Amal Mk11 carburetors in addition to Lucas electronic ignition. Belt Drive primary to AMC gearbox. Marzocchi suspension front and rear with CMA 4 leading shoe front brake and Yamaha TZ rear.18 Akkront aluminum rims with stainless-steel spokes and fitted out with Yokohama race tires. Cuppini controlsThe bike is in fantastic condition, having spent the majority of its life considering that 1982 on display. In 1982 when going through a total restore, the intension of its owner was to return the bike to the race course nevertheless like many things delays etc implied that by the time the bike was finished it was no longer competitive and as such the choice was made not to race it and it was retired and established for parades and so on. In 1993 its owner did sign up the motorbike for daytime street use, again just for parades and shows
